The Role

At Fieldhouse Capital Management Inc., the Portfolio Manager will be registered as either an Advising Representative or an Associate Advising Representative, depending on experience. This individual will manage client investment portfolios on a discretionary basis, identify and secure new clients, and expand their existing book of business. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive research, due diligence, and securities analysis to develop tailored portfolio solutions that address each client’s unique personal and financial circumstances, as well as their investment objectives. The Portfolio Manager will also play a key role in business development by sourcing prospective clients, maintaining strong client relationships, and working closely with internal teams to ensure the highest standards of compliance and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by managing investment portfolios on a discretionary basis, ensuring alignment with each client’s risk tolerance, investment objectives, and Know-Your-Client (KYC)/suitability requirements.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective clients through active prospecting, networking, and referrals.
  • Conduct thorough client onboarding in collaboration with Fieldhouse’s client services team.
  • Develop comprehensive Investment Policy Statements for each client, integrating their KYC information, risk profile, and investment objectives.
  • Provide ongoing portfolio management and client support by proactively monitoring portfolios and addressing investment-related questions, concerns, or opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Perform ongoing due diligence and Know-Your-Product (KYP) reviews on securities and other investments held in client accounts.
  • Research and evaluate new investment opportunities by conducting due diligence and KYP to expand and enhance the firm’s discretionary product shelf.
  • Represent Fieldhouse Capital Management Inc. at industry events and conferences to stay informed about market trends, showcase the firm’s offerings, and connect with prospective clients.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and firm policies, upholding the highest standards of compliance in discretionary portfolio management.
  • Maintain accurate records of portfolio management activities, client interactions, and due diligence findings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., compliance, marketing, operations) to provide seamless client experiences and effectively promote the firm’s services.
  • Stay current on industry developments, market conditions, and emerging opportunities to continuously refine portfolio strategies and enhance client outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, and industry designation such as CFA or CIM.
  • Previous or existing registration as an Advising Representative or Associate Advising Representative at a Portfolio Manager firm is a strong asset.
  • Experience in sales, business development, or a similar role within the financial services industry, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Existing relationships with high-net-worth individuals or existing book of business are considered a strong asset.
  • Commitment to delivering trusted and informed client-centric investment advice.
  • Knowledge and experience providing discretionary portfolio management services to clients with a solid understanding of relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated research and due diligence experience and thorough investment analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively with existing and prospective clients.
  • Integrity and a willingness to invest significant effort to build a successful advisory career.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, DocuSign) is an advantage.
